Well once again Australia is hit by another disaster. They just can’t catch a break can they? Let’s pray that disasters only come in threes.
In what is the 3rd disaster in just under 4 weeks for Australia . At least 59 homes In Perth have been destroyed by a raging bush fire which continues to create havoc. The area of Roleystone has been declared a disaster zone by the states premier yesterday. Luckily no deaths have been reported but more than a dozen people have been treated for smoke inhalation. The fire was triggered by sparks from an angle grinder. Come on people… please realise you need to be careful with things like angle grinders near dry grass its just logic.
The fire comes after the state of Queensland has just been ravaged first by flooding then a category 5 cyclone which left 35 people dead.
At least $500 million dollars (Aus) worth of agricultural production has been wiped out by cyclone Yasi and recent flooding. So expect the price of sugar to rise as Australia produces a large chunk of the world’s sugar and Queensland contributes about 50% of that. Damn and chocolate prices were already going up!
It’s good to be a New Zealander…
