Tucked away on an unknown level of a Beijing market building, is a food court. You won't see foreign faces in this food court, well we didn't...
Following the grumbling of our stomachs after a busy morning haggling with locals, our feet took us to this food court bursting with local foods. After taking our time browsing over the selections we could choose from, we decided on the most fun option. It was a hot pot, where you walked along in a line and pointed (as Chinese was the language of choice, an neither my friend or i could command the language) at what you wanted in your hot pot. Knots of noodles, bunches of unknown greens, morning glory, and unknown to us copious amounts of chillies and garlic!
I can still feel the burning in the pit of my stomach. Amazing the chillies didn't put me off, even though i have never been a huge fan of hot food. But there was just something so tasty about those Chinese chillies, the memory is still stuck with me.
So if you are ever in Beijing i would recommend a visit to this ( if you can find it) food court and try and eat your own way through one of these giant bowls.
